BRINGING YOUR OWN SCOOTER OR WHEELCHAIR

The benefits of bringing your own chair or scooter are clear, however you may not be fully aware of the issues and risks involved.

Please bear in mind that the pavements and conditions over here are totally different to those in the UK. Many UK machines are simply not suitable for over here for all sorts of reasons. It is easier to rent the correct machine from us. If you do bring your own scooter please remember to bring the charger as we cannot carry spares for every different type of scooter or chair.

Every week a number of wheelchairs and scooters get damaged in transit. If you are one of these unlucky people your holiday can be ruined. It can take several trips over several days to and from the airport to complete the required paperwork. If you are only here for a week it can take up a large proportion of your holiday.

If your scooter or wheelchair gets broken, either in transit or otherwise, there is only so much we can do. Unlike mainland Europe it normally takes at least 7-10 days minimum to organise any spare parts from England, and it is also very expensive as they have to be flown or couriered in. In addition the servicing and repair of our fleet has to take priority.

If you rent from us and it breaks down, we are only a phone call away to come and replace it, its our problem not yours.

Please check any scooter/wheelchair insurance very carefully. We have yet to find a policy that covers scooters etc in transit on airplanes. If your scooter is damaged by the airline our understanding is that the maximum any airline will pay out is 600 euros or about £400. Clearly if your scooter is worth more than £400 it is you who loses out.
